Troop Surge

Quote from Pekelo:

Since it looks like we can't have both at the same time, most Americans would go for stable, which probably doesn't mean democratic.

Philosophically speaking, what is this big obsession with democracy anyway?

Because anti-communism doesn't win votes any more.

.....Only 26% or near that approve of the Iraq policy. About all he can do tonight is try to tell the truth in his appeal to us. Any deception or jive this evening and his numbers go lower so he better give the speech of his life......

Naw.....Doesn't matter, long as he, Laura and Barney are for the war. ;-) (Actually, I'm sadly not being so sarcastic.)

20K troops is too little, too late. Victory? Victory would have been finding WMD's. Ooops! There weren't any to be found. Strike one! Victory could have been then immediately sending several hundred thousand troops to stabilize the country before it got out of hand. Didn't do that. Strike two! At that point a small victory could have been achieved by pulling out and saying to radical Islam, don't fuck with us or we'll come in and fuck up your shitty little country. Didn't do that either. Strike three! We're out! Now all we can do is find a less painful way of losing. Pick your poison....losing is losing.
