Treyvon Martin issue is starting to irritate the hell out of me

Quote from Yannis:

It's a sad situation, I feel bad for the victim and his family...

But it really sickens me to see how many people are ready to jump to conclusion and throw Z under the bus before the man is even arrested, let alone judged and found guilty...

And, how many supposed leaders among us (eg, Sharpton et al) are having a field day imagining things before any valid information is made available, throwing accusations all around and biasing public opinion with hot air. :(

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is what Zimmerman do too. He call the 911 to tell them Trayvon is suspicious. He tell them he is walking around. Then he follow Trayvon with his gun. You tell me he did not "judge" and think Trayvon "guilty" of some crime"? And Zimmerman have no "valid information" when he do that. You do not think Zimmerman "biasing opinion" of the 911 people when he tell them Trayvon look suspicious for nothing only walking on the street?
I think is really wrong for those Black Panthers to have that reward. And is wrong for black leaders to say Zimmerman kill that boy because he want to kill black people. They are judging too fast with no information. Is just the same like Zimmerman is judging Trayvon criminal and guilty with no proof.

You're making unfounded baseless assumptions to prove to yourself your own preconceived notions. In fact you're guilty of doing the exact same thing you're accusing the shooter of.

It looks like everyone is turning the tragedy into a money grab or political points grab.

Black Panthers have said they expect to raise $1,000,000 over the issure.

Former NAACP leader C.L. Bryant is accusing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton of “exploiting” the Trayvon Martin tragedy to “racially divide this country.”

The mother of Trayvon Martin has filed two applications to secure trademarks containing her late son’s name, records show.

Expanding the definition of “cracker,” a t-shirt featuring the photo of the man who shot Trayvon Martin is now available for purchase.

Why did Zimmerman say on the 911, "These assholes always get away" What is he talking about? I think he is talking about criminals always get away. And he is talking about that because he have the neighborhood watch job.

Early in my construction buss. I did a lot of apartment work, it was always a little nervous about going into other peoples units. The management were supposed to tell the tenants we were working but they didn't always get the word.
.

Same here. I did this for a few years. Did plenty of work in da hood, I have a few stories (situations) maybe I'll post one day. All in all though, black people like me

Quote from AK Forty Seven:

Zimmerman had to disobey police orders and follow then get out of his car before Martin beat the crap out of him

None of that is justification for attacking someone, and I doubt it is even legally relevant or admissible in court.

In addition, Zimmerman's arrest record is clearly inadmissible in any court proceeding. Prior arrests or convictions are inadmissible except in very limited exceptions, none of which I can see applying here.

Just to further spoil things for the lynch mob, Trayvon's girlfriend cannot testify in court to anything he said on the phone. It's all hearsay. For example, she can't testify that he told her a strange guy was following him. Total hearsay. She could testify about certain things she heard on the phone, eg a gunshot, but she can't relay any third party's statements for the truth of what they said.

Gotta love it. The 99&'ers are fast learners. Is America great or what?

Quote from 377OHMS:

...

Mr. Wannabe Cop following someone around the neighborhood and armed with a .45, now that is a tragedy looking for a place to occur.

There should be legislation to prevent Neighborhood Watch types from carrying a concealed weapon while on "duty" regardless of having a permit. These guys should not be armed.

I have to totally disagree here. Florida has a concealed carry law and this guy was apparently properly licensed to carry. The fact that someone is voluntarily putting themselves in what could be a dangerous situation is no reason to disarm them.

Obviously the cops were not stopping crime in this neighborhood, so it fell on residents to do the cops' job. I fear in the not too distant future many of us will be in that position. Personally, I wouldn't want to be patrolling a crime-ridden neighborhood at night alone without a gun. Certainly the police are not leaving their weapons at the stationhouse to prevent possible tragedies.

Of course, the police will always say don't get out of the car, don't carry a gun, etc. Prior to 9/11 the unanimous advice of the "experts" was that passengers in a hijacking should totally cooperate with the hijackers. We saw how well that worked out. Most police chiefs are against CCW laws. They'd prefer we huddle in our houses, totally dependent on them for our protection. I can't say I blame them, but what makes their lives easier is not necessarily what is best for us.
