Treyvon Martin issue is starting to irritate the hell out of me

Quote from Lucrum:

So he should be charged with a felony just to let a jury decide if he's guilty?

Are you fucking drunk? He should only be charged if there is sufficient evidence he committed a crime. So far the only thing the you bleeding hearts have demonstrated is that the dead kid had dark skin. That's not a reason to charge someone. Now if you actually have EVIDENCE that the shooter initiated the confrontation, show us.

Did you take a hard bump to the head lately, your thinking is muddled.
There is an unarmed minor dead after a documented pursuit, I'd call that evidence. Now sober up and apologize.

Quote from Lucrum:

No, now you're just making stuff up. Again, if he has a previous record how did he get a carry permit?
Maybe I'm wrong but I understood he had a carry permit. They don't generally give those to felons.

You don't know that Zim has a criminal record of assault on a police officer while drunk ?

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

I haven't followed all 34 pages of this, but I suspect it could blow up in Obama's face. In fact, it could blow up in a lot of peoples' faces.

First, let's start with the assumption that the local police aren't total morons. Maybe they are, I really don't know, but usually police and prosecutors are very aggressive in going after people they view as vigilantes. Now Sharpton, Jackson and Obama just naturally assume that cops will side with a trigger-happy racist who goes around executing innocent honor students. Color me skeptical on that.

Second, all the Neighborhood Watch stuff is irrelevant. Whether or not it was an official Watch and whether or not he followed their guidelines really has nothing to do with the case. As far as I know, there is no special immunity for Watch participants. Any resident has the right to patrol their neighborhood and look for suspicious activity. Anyone has the right to make a citizen's arrest. Normally we commend citizens who take it upon themselves to protect their neighbors and try to improve their neighborhood. For this guy, somehow it is evidence of criminal intent.

Third, it is not assaulting someone to ask them who they are and what are they doing in your neighborhood. As I understand it, it was a gated community, meaning there is no public right of access. There is also no duty to respond to such a request, however. If someone attempts tpo make a citizen's arrest after an unsatisfactory explanantion, they are taking a big legal risk.

Fourth, and very relevant to point one, there was apparently an eyewitness to the entire episode, and his account totally corroborates Zimmerman's claim of self defense. I fully expect this person to get the Joe the Plumber treatment from the liberal media. They will stop at nothing to discredit him or, if they can't, to ruin him and Zimmerman anyway.

+1

Rational, reasonable, restrained. Great post.

Quote from futurecurrents:

and why did he even get out of his SUV? Zimmerman needs to be arrested, period.

He won't be arrested and the Police Chief will be reinstated. You liberals will scream bloody murder but the lesson will remain intact, don't assault an armed person.

But feel free to wet your pants and run around in circles shouting. Nobody cares what you do futurecurrents.

If black folk want to riot and burn their own neighborhoods in Miami then by all means, have at it.

Patiently waiting for Obama to get "tagged" or a "cross" to bear.

He is sort of like teflon when it comes to the media (ie Solyndra ).

Quote from gwb-trading:

Let's fix this story to reflect reality.

Lets say I'm driving my car and a large man thinks I cut him off, so he follows me (but since I'm innocent we will say it was a similar car that cut him off and he just followed the wrong car). I notice a car following me so I pull over, he gets out of the car and I get out of the car. He starts yelling at me and then he assaults me. I punch him in the face and then get on top of him and continue hitting him to stop their assault. He screams for help and for someone to call the police. Nobody helps him. He then pulls out a gun and shoots me. Was it self defense?

If you said yes, you are on Zimmermans side.

If you said no, you are on the side of justice.

Now you are adding stuff that you dont know happened. The only information of the confrontation was from Martins girlfriend who said Martin said "Why are you following me?" to which Zimmerman responded "What are you doing here?" I didnt know asking someone what they are doing is considered assault.

But lets see if we can piece together logically Martins girlfriends story. She claims that after zimmerman said "What are you doing here?", she heard pushing and the line went dead. Now...if that was ALL that was said, its reasonable to believe that Martin started attacking zimmerman because who would ask "what are you doing here?" and instead of waiting for an answer, just start fighting.

Now if she was leaving something out, that means Trayvon responded and said something that she doesnt want coming out because it would make him look guilty or like he started the fight(which he probably did) Teenagers always leave out the parts of the story that cast a bad light on them or one of their friends. For instance...lets speculate that after Zimmerman said "What are you doing here?" Martin replied with "I aint gotta tell you nothing and I'm gonna beat your ass for followin' me" Do you really believe that his teenage girlfriend would tell police he said that? No...teenagers are not that honest. They dont give up information like that.
