Trend Following Research

Quote from The Big D:

Agreed. That definition isn't specific enough to take a chart and mark the "moves" even in retrospect.

It's refreshing to meet a TA person who applies rigourous tests to support their position. You have my respect. Unfortunately, most TA afficinados are incredibly vague and subjective or if objective its only within the parameters of the flawed system. This is why TA has such a bad rap in academics and with others looking for true edge.

Your initials aren't DA are they:D :D

I absolutely agree.
Retrospect isn't good enough though, as you well know.
I've defined it and I won't share. There are far smarter individuals in this forum than I am so it shouldn't be too hard for one of those learned individuals to figure it out.
Hey, marketsurfer said that Covel was the "expert" maybe he can put it to pencil.
Got to be worth a few bucks, huh?

Covel certainly isn't a math expert, to the best of my knowledge

However, he is an expert in how the big trend funds trade as he has interviewed the managers with pointed and well designed questions.

I am surprised you won't share, what are you afraid of?

I appreciate the kind words.

I always figured my biggest "meta-edge" if you will is being specific and precise about what I'm looking at. I agree that much of TA is so wishy-washy as to be neither right nor wrong. Of what's left, much of the rest is probably wrong. That said, the academics (at least those with an efficient-market bias) tend to bother me too - they have a bad tendency of failing to find 100% of the market inefficiencies they don't look for. If they looked a little harder they'd find some, since a bunch of good ones have been revealed in print and still work.

My first name is Wayne, and it's highly unlikely you would have run into me, since I trade retail and don't really interact with the industry as a whole except via occasionally posting here.

I'm afeared of you. :(
You scare me. You one of dem big city fellas.
You want to steal my edge. :D

Vacation till Sunday.

True, Chern-Simons theory is not my specialty, but trend following is. Am I an expert in it? I have put in the *homework* on the subject, which gives a head start on most. Folks can take it, or leave it.

You are a very good writer sir but as I stated earlier, Hawking, Gates & Buffett didn't become an experts in their perspective fields by interviewing people. It takes long hours of work in the field itself and personal research and these are both things you have previously stated you have never done.

I had to add to this response before I headed out this morning.

You've previously stated your sole reasons for being on this site is one of greed and procuring information to write about. I don't want to be responsible for feeding your addiction. You can't goad me into a conversation about what I do. Do the work yourself. You seem to be utterly lazy when it comes to trading.

Most of the people here are here for enjoyment and self improvement, neither are your purpose. You like to start arguments to control conversations. Not something I enjoy.

Happy Easter everyone.

That the markets can change direction at any time affects all players, including special ones like you. Therefore, it is a moot point for the purposes of this discussion.

Where was that said?
