Each year technology advances, computer environments become more efficient.

HFT was science fiction 15 years ago, does that mean 15 years ago if the technology DID exist to make it work, it would have still been laughed at? The formulas for HFT could have easily existed 15 years ago but the technology to make it efficient didn't.
