A reliable inside source whispered in my ear that DUNN trend follower is down another 6% so far this month. I feel bad for his new investors!

It's not like his track record back to 1974 is a secret. Why do you feel bad?

My concern is for the investors who get duped into buying into a trend fund, very few if any have been invested since 1974--- and many have lost their shirts trying to trend follow.

Recent investors have had their clocks cleaned and money depleted. You should talk about Dunn;s recent performance rather than the old stuff over and over.

remember, he was DOWN 6% in October

So talk about his last month's performance? With all due respect, the month by month track records of numerous trend traders, for decades, are across my books, online, etc. If one makes an allocation to a trend following trader and doesn't know what they are doing--they will get their clocks cleaned. Talked about the issue of investor psychology toward hedge funds with Jack Schwager yesterday--a big part of his newest book. Hedge funds and strategies are what they are. Investors not knowing what they are doing or having unreal expectations--a whole other issue.

Making this some kind of emotional tear jerker doesn't make much sense. Trend following is not new. If you want to make the case that it doesn't work or is dead, you won't be the first. People can always compare back to the performance numbers.

Looks like "the source" nailed it---

Maybe the next book can be called "yesterdaay"

You do realize that they target trying to lose 20% in a month 1% of the time? They did not come close to the target!
