Transfering money from a canadian bank to the US?

I'm looking to transfer some money for a trading account from a canadian bank(CIBC) into a US bank and before I can do that I need to convert into USD. The fee however is 2cents, which is huge. That amount can easily add up and eat up.

I was wondering how do the other canadian traders do it?

Just do a wire transfer and tell them you need it to output in USD. Some US brokers may take a bank draft...maybe.
