Trading while trying to lose weight on Atkins

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about reading the conclusions only rather than the study itself, along with its design and its data. The conclusions alone are immaterial.

If you've convinced yourself of your statements and are satisfied with them, that's fine. But it isn't data, other than empirical.

In any case, people aren't fat just because of what they eat. They are fat mostly because of why they eat. Which is why "diets" in and of themselves are not enough.

I understood the first time.

And I agree, diet alone is not enough. There are many other factors involved. Human contact, love, respect, enjoyable work, play and so on are all necessary in order to make a person healthy.

"People are fat mostly because of why they eat".

It's getting more complicated but some of it must be that people eat poorly because they are unhappy. Of course they could be unhappy for many reasons but you can not deny that feeling healthy helps to make you feel happier. It's a bit of a round and round. A great diet is not the whole answer but it's a good helper because you can feel and see the difference.

But like I already said, someone has got to sort this mess out, because it is causing a lot of unhappiness.

That's not just some of it. The reasons why people are fat rarely have anything to do with food, except of course for the fact that they ingest it, any more than the reason why people drink has anything to do with alcohol.

What I'm most concerned about is children, and the foods that we not only allow them to eat, but encourage them to eat. The cereal aisles are an abomination. Then there are the cookies, the cakes, the sodas, the fast food. We penalize parents for beating their children. What they feed them is far worse.

It is a sad state of affairs. I think history will look upon us as savages who cared much more about money than people. The companies that produce this crap and then use all manner of marketing ploys to push it are nothing more than criminals. It's not as if they don't know what they are doing. Look at Sunny D. It's fake OJ. You have got to be one mean son of a bitch to dream that up.

Being an organic eater myself I know some kids that have grown up on local organic farms and the difference between them and some of the junk food kids I see elsewhere is dramatic.

Criminals for offering what people are clamoring for?? Sunny D would go out of business if they relied on my sales. So would hog farmers. and the beef industry, they'd be gone too. McDees would never have survived first month waiting for my buck. Who's buying that junk? People want it, they are demanding it, can't get enuf of it. Doesn't make Mcdees criminal for serving up what the customer demands.

ROFL!!! The deadman had me in stitches. Should have written a book "How to Walk on Thin Icy Sidewalks".

More correct would be what you say works for you. That doesn't mean the same plan can even be implemented, much less work for 100% of the population.
i'm not superman. i am a human being. the difference between how i get into shape and how another person gets into shape is going to be miniscule at best. ENERGY BALANCE APPLIES TO ALL HUMANS.
At your perfect shape and low body fat, one would have to conclude that you have zero experience in how to lose weight.
great conclusion...NOT! this is one of the worst comments i've seen in this thread. i was not in the shape i'm in now my whole life. i've never been terribly out of shape, but i had to work (and continue to) make myself get into TOP shape. the same principles apply if you go from 10% body fat to 5% or if you go from 30% body fat to 15%.

GG you couldn't be more correct. You don't get down to 5% fat levels sitting on your derriere. On the contrary you would have to know much more the fine art and science of nutrition and proper exercise physiology than your average lard butt looking to drop a few pounds. I would wager whomever made that dumb comment is fat, has always been fat, and will ever be F-A-T.

Congrats on your achievements. keep up the good work.
