Trading while trying to lose weight on Atkins

Quote from FasterPussycat:

Amusing how quickly you're willing to throw away "well known theory" for "recent studies started to show" (whatever the hell that is)
The "well known theory" is that "fat is bad." The theory, however, never included the reduction of carbohydrates and sugar intake and utilizing fat metabolism.

And how could "recent studies" show atkins right over "long term"?

Well, um, they "study" people that have been (or claim to) eating this way "over the long term"? How else could they have done it?

FYI

Im heading to the beach for labor day weekend....going to redcue carbs ( not eliminate) for the next five days to do this...as i have said before I have done this to lose a little weight and tighten the six pack....which right now resembles a 12 back of long necks...

this morning: workout @ 6:00 followed but 15 minutes in sauna

Coffee with HEAVY CREAM....I know coffee is bad but i can;t help myself...use heavy cream NOT cremora or stuff like that.

Lunch:....Having clams and mussels Diablo ( made it last night) but will not have the Linguine ( that hurts) ....there will be a little red sauce on the meat butnot enough overload on carbs...many goal is to have 20-25 carb grams a day or less

If i start starving im going to snack on some Tuna packed in water....the problem is usually the salt content, but oil has too many carbs

IMHO,

The best way to "exercise" is to pick a sport you like and start playing it. I have always hated exercise, but love sports.

I have started playing tennis and it is helping immensely.

Great idea, thanks ... and others... agree re need to exercise for health/longevity ... magic pills yeah I'm a www.lef.org customer :p a local trader told me about them, vitamin shop outfit..

hmm not much of a sports guy here (other than golf, which now I'm too lazy for)...

I know! I live 15 mins from waikiki beach, and I never get tired of, ah, looking at the scenery, so maybe early morning beach walks, that sounds good... then a cappucino afterwards..

one of my traders sent me the 'body for life' book, it has some good common sense exercise stuff in it..

thx for the ideas...

I've heard from a couple of traders who had serious heart problems in their late 30s, one said it was from too much stress...
so I went to a scanning place, great to know all's well, like the www.vitalimaging.com one, highly recommend it, it's reassuring to have an "inside out" scanning exam to know all's well with the insides.

I can't seem to talk my relatives into going to the scanning places though, they're stubborn (ideas?). Feels like going to "Total Recall" from Arnold's movie.

Unfortunately ken, when you reach a certain age, having a fun sport is not enough...I stillplay Hoops three times a week but I had to hit the Gym...why? Because after playing on sat or sun mornings id come home and suck down beer and pasta for 12 hours LOL

weightlifting ( begrudgingly) has become the best 'sport' for me and helps me reduce stress, keep up with the young punks and get some power , girth and tone....give it six weeks and you'll see a big difference because then the 'sport' is to get your additional cardio work

What motivates you all to actually do the exercise? I'm almost 40, used to go to the gym for years, but nowadays, exercise I see as more a 'necessary evil" instead of something fun to do, so I don't do it.
I've been thinking about this ever since you posted it a few days ago in hopes of identifying a clear answer. I'm pushing 40 too, and I recall a few years ago when some said to me, "...but you like staying in shape..." and my response was, "Actually, no, but I enjoy being in shape." What I like is looking good with my shirt off or in a tank-top. I like being able to bike 30 miles whenever I want. I like having the stamina to do 10 rounds on the heavy bag. Stuff like that.

I guess it all boils down to concentrating on the results. I never was much for sports so that wasn't enough a compulsion for me. I joined the military when I was 20, so most of the time my whole deal was working out to max or exceed the physical standards. Been over ten years since I got out though, and found out pretty fast the problem with having a job that would keep me in shape was that they usually didn't pay enough :).

Having a workout partner normally helps as long as they are reasonably within your fitness range. Anyone a lot stronger than you tends to become defeating, while someone a lot less strong gets exasperating (you have to tend to them rather than actually getting a good workout).

Never had a personal trainer so no perspective there.
