LOW FAT/ LOW PROTEIN/ HIGH CARBS>> thats the way to fly!
########################################
It is exactly this sort of thinking that has propelled the incidence of diabetes to epidemic levels in this country. A leading cause of cancer is NOT eating red meat or fat.
remember when Apples were bad for you? and eggs? If you actually (and carefully) read the medical journals regarding this subject you will see that the patients had high carb levels in their diets in addition to their FAT intake. It was this improperly drawn conclusion that has developed into the anti-fat campaign.
The American Diabetes Foundation recommends LOWERING carb intake well BELOW the FDA recommended levels.
IF you don't like eskimos then pick another low carb population - such as the Japanese. Both the Japanese and American Eskimo have, as a population, lower incidences of Diabetes, cardiovascular diseases (Angina, Elevated Blood Pressure, or myocardial infarction) as well as CANCER. These are entire populations who were either out of reach of the refined carbohydrates or culturally chose not to include these carbs in their diet. As a result, they are healthier, and often live longer than Americans in general.
Low carb diets are not dangerous unless one has impaired renal function and or low creatine clearance. One should always consult their physician (not WebMD) before beginning any diet regimen.
