Trading Volume % in Minutes.

I am just wondering what this means on software. I've a pretty good idea what it means already but I wanna be sure about it.

Example Volume % in 10 min is 1k. Does that mean the volume is 10X higher than the previous 10 minutes?

It has to specify either "advancing" or "declining" volume percent, to mean anything.

I'm envisaging that you're referring to the "AD Volume Percent" indicator, here. It's explained here: http://stockcharts.com/school/doku.php?id=chart_school:technical_indicators:ad_vol_percent. If you weren't, and I've completely misunderstood your question, please excuse me.

There is no declining volume percent my software isn't smart enough (or doesn't have the need.) to show something like that. 1k=1000% higher than volume from last 10min 1=1% volume from the last 10min. (That would mean volume decreased by 99%) I think that's how it works!

Yeah, I didn't quite understand the description and just wanted to confirm what I was reading was correct or not.

I just felt like something was amiss cos I've been monitoring some stocks and the Vol% in 5min always seems to be above 1k which would mean the volume kept increasing by 10x or more every 5 min over a long period which doesn't seem to make sense

These compare the volume over the last minute to the volume expected in a 1 minute period. The result is always a percent.

It doesn't say how the expected volume value is calculated. At a guess, it might be the average for the session start-relative m-minute interval for the last n days, possibly taking into account other variables like day of week.

I suspect that without knowing what your software is and/or seeing the manual, it isn't going to be possible for anyone to answer you definitively.
