BTW, I used to trade out of Monte Carlo. Market would close at 11pm. Just in time to hit Lowes. That was in the day there was no CNBC. Too bad we had Reuters there. (But only in the office)

I've heard that before (the "needing help" part). It's funny, people get used to the different time zones, and seem to adjust their lives accordingly...at least for the short term. I'm not sure I could adjust to trading at night...but hitting Lowes would be fun (if we weren't "barred" from there)....

I like big and little cottonwood canyon areas (Brighton, Canyons, Snowbird) Utah, places west of Denver, Squaw, Mammoth. Got friends that live in the areas that know all sorts of inbounds freshies.

Used to hike to some areas with the girlfriend, but, she didn't like the avalanche danger and frankly neither do I. Knees were getting too old to do that hiking stuff anyways. Getting to the top of the slope with my Quads burning like a western brush fire wasn't my idea of enjoyment.

I do like Northstar, most of my friends call it flatstar, but they are into steep chutes and I dig the more flowing, surf style aspects of the sport. Never been to Rose.

There are a couple of decent places to go in No. Cal that aren't heavily trafficked.

Alaska is crazy. If you get a chance to go there, do it. Spend the $ on a heli-board trip, you likely won't regret the experience. I plan on hitting it this winter. I'd like to hit a Heli-Boarding deal in B.C. and maybe get to Jackson this year.

Pray for lots of snow.......... It was thin in So Cal this year.

Alaska is definitely on the to do list, don't know if I'm good enough yet for super sick terrain but will be eventually

one of my favorite things about Rose is a vast flat expanse at the bottom of the slopes on the Slide side- if you take the downhill at a good clip you can scream across that football field of snow like there's no tomorrow (prob'ly break some bones if u caught an edge tho)

seems its been drought-ish conditions in west for a long time now, but when the cycles finally reverse we should get some major dumps for a few seasons in a row

alaska was *exactly* what i was going to suggest for a trip. take a cruise out of vancouver hitting the cities on the way up to anchorage...

though you could get tv, it was spotty reception in parts.

most people tend to be couples, but i'd suggest going with another couple. that way, if you just want to be 'alone' with them, you can. if you want to mingle with others, you can. if you and your wife want to be alone, you can (without the other couple getting offended).

food is out of this world (of course) and the day trips are either relaxing on a bus / train, or outdoorsy type stuff, but it's very different.

and the colours there are different than aynthing i've ever seen..

Check out Chamonix....it may be a lot less expensive to get to and the Valley Blanc, on Mt. Blanc, is a trip. 17Km top to bottom. You get to be in 2 countries at the summit and see virtually a whole continent. (Europe being about the size of Texas...hope I am not offending any Texans...for you gool ol' boys, Texas IS BIGGER )

re Texas, I have some relatives in Alaska who always laugh about the Texas bigness thing....you could cover half of Alaska in water, take out all the lakes etc., and the landmass is STILL bigger than the itty bitty oilman's state....

PS: Yeah, I would probably take Alaska myself over Chamonix. But if price is a concern.....
Also, Caribous, Bugaboos, and and any other Canadian Boos if you want to spring for helicopter drops. $$$$$$$$$$$$
