trading tokyo stock exchange ?

I have no experience and little knowledge when it comes to trading stocks. Is there a discount broker that allows say a US citizen/resident to directly trade stocks on the tokyo stock exchange? If so, what are the advantages/disadvantages between doing this and trading the OTC equivalent of a given stock?

I've googled "trading tokyo stock exchange" and looked at various discount brokerages for info to no avail.

at first when you said "IB" I thought you meant "interbank" but now I think you meant "interactive brokers" http://www.interactivebrokers.co.uk/en/main.php

havent tried it yet, but maybe you can get EOD data from here:

anyone knows how much shorting costs appr. in tokyo? and the counterparty is the exchange itself, right?

You can get Tokyo eod data from Equis/Reuters for metastock format from
