Trading the SLA/AMT Intraday

40D is, apppently?
I think we need a chatroom to see who can ACTUALLY make it work in realtime, because really, anyone can draw a few lines on a chart and come back at the end of the day to claim various trades from these lines.

I have, in the past, posted my levels, my trading plan, charts with clearly delineated hinges, and I've posted blotters with entry and exit and P/L. I will tell you that if someone is dead set against believing, even a chat room where the moderator meets the three requirements in edabreau's post would not be sufficient. On Thursday I posted a chart using two simple straight lines to a private thread to show gears, in real time, what a hinge looks like as it is about to let go. Whether I traded it or not should be immaterial to gears, as he has now studied this stuff enough to know what a hinge implies. I have no desire to put myself on display to the masses.

You say you "need to be convinced someone is a profitable trader" before accepting their help. Well, I never once asked DbPhoenix to rove anything to me. I'm like Missouri. I'm the "sjow me" trader. But what I needed to be shown was simply can I use this information to make me money or not. What good would DbPhoenix's tax docs and account statements do to teach me how to trade? Nada.

Now, if I had tried to make a go of SLA and I wasn't making money in a month or so, I'd have abandoned it and looked elsewhere, and DbPhoenix would never had heard from me again, as I'm a big boy and I don't troll. But others seem rather intent on putting up a prolific count of time wasting posts rather than doing all he or she can do to make his and his family better off.

Life is about personal responsibility. Some here do not accept that responsibility, and some of those go so far as to attack those who rightly refuse to take on responsibility only they themselves can accept.

I will help those who start a journal and show not only a willingness to do the work, but show some aptitude for the process and the material. Otherwise, it is a waste of my time.

Why help anyone at all? Because I have found, as DbPhoenix had once said to me, that in explaining these things to someone else, it helps me to clarify and enhance my own understanding.

And if you cannot see the value in that ...

Once I read a story that a math professor stepped into a classroom one morning, and he started to write equations after equations and half-talked to himself and half-explained to the whole room of confused students on and on, and when the class was over, the professor said to himself: ha, I now know exactly what this means finally.

Though I'm not in fortydraws' PM or private thread (in case anyone is wondering), I always appreciate his postings on ET wrt Db's SLA/AMT methods. They have been very helpful and valuable to me, who tend to easily miss "the forest for the trees".

Many thanks again, fortydraws.. and always looking forward to your posts.. :)

You're welcome to PM me anytime, fourtiwinks. I would like to start another journal, but at this point it seems that kp is using everyone else's journals as his own playground of platforms to thump on me, so why give him another?

I'm logging off ET for a few days, so in the meantime, have a great week!

Thanks very much for the offer, fortydraws! I'll definitely take it up when I am ready.. :)

Take good care, have a nice break and wishing you a great week too. Cheers!

Sorry for jumping in here, but as I've just gone through this process...

For anyone interested in how long it would take to see if this whole approach is worth the effort. (spoiler alert - it is) I was able to do a years worth of backtesting in under a week. I would do it in batches of a few weeks at a time. So spread over the course of an actual week it was nothing.

Now I'm not as smart as the average bear, but if I can do it.... You get the picture.

Now for the replay, testing etc

Since we appear to have returned to the subject of the thread, I'm bumping this from Saturday.

There are those who have been at this for years without ever having gone through the observation phase and struggling with it all the while. Some have decided to "reboot" and put themselves through it, some with less difficulty, some with more, but all are now finding success with it. I don't expect anyone to be able to do it in a week, but I've posted before that it shouldn't take more than two, now that we have replay.

I gotcha beat: 0650EDT 89.25--87--88.50

Yes. I think I may see a pattern developing. Maybe if I went back and looked at 100 of these I might learn how to profit by it.

Nah ... that's too much work. I'll just wait for you to spoon feed me.

Our fellow SLA'ers know the pattern already. For those not so inclined as to have read and studied ...

11:29 EDT 66 - 59- 64 1/4

66 was a HIGH

59 was a LOW

64.25 was a LOWER HIGH

Now, for the fun of it, see if you can figure out DbPhoenix's levels. Hint: 88.50 is a lower number than 89.25 ;)
