Trading the Nasdaq mini NQ

I position my initial stop-loss a tick beyond the most recently-formed swing-high/low (and if that's too far from my entry-point, then I don't take the trade).

I find this much better and more realistic than having a set distance.

I'm guessing that you mean "ticks", not "points"? 5 points is 20 ticks ... for me, 5 ticks would be too tight. All these things depend on the volatility and time-frame, of course.

How do you setup your targets?

Broadly speaking, my targets - sometimes a single one per trade, sometimes two, occasionally even three, depending on the type of entry set-up - are related both to current volatility, and to my expectations of areas of probable short-term future support and resistance (which I judge mostly from recent support and resistance, giving prominence in my assessment of them to areas of both multiple touches/rejections and most recent touches/rejections).

Wishing you good luck with your TST-funded account! You're an NQ trader, I assume?

Thanks! No, I mostly trade CL or sometimes NG. I use volume bars as well for my trading. However, I haven't been consistent lately and my funded account is just well... let's say consolidating. :(
