Just wondering how many traders on ET are scalpers(speed traders)? My bread and butter comes from quick 20 to 40 cent bursts and then I'm out. Sometimes the stock keeps going, other times it reverses. Nonetheless, I'm out when momentum stalls. It only takes a few seconds before the market gets cold--sold out--I'm onto the next episode.
 
I turned consistently profitable with few down days when I became a very short term scalper a few months ago. I leave a lot of money on the table and pay a ton of commissions, but it suits my personality and I have been making good money.
 
There are many types of scalping , I think that 20 to 40 cents would be the furthest thing from pure scalping. 4-5 cents or less is the purest of the sort.
