Basically I mostly change the setting of indicators and see how they perform.

I realised that most of my winners were trend-following: most of the big winners were trend-following: I could pyramid winners and make them bigger.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters, no matter what your strategy. This is from Larry Hite's The Rule book. "Cut your losses and let your winners run." Larry Hite also, uses trend following too per his book.
