Trading Stocks in other international markets from the U. S. A.

Hi All,

I have a day job but working on being an active trader. I'd like to take advantage of the timezone difference and be able to trade stocks in international markets, say UK, such that I can do quite some trading before or after my work hours here in the U. S. A.

I'll really appreciate any insights as to which brokers to use and the pros and cons of the different international markets.

Any useful links will also be appreciated.

I see IB offers this. Interesting. Your experiences with trading other international markets will be appreciated.
 
If you want to trade other markets, your safest bet is probably to just trade futures. Since futures are traded 24/5.5. The U.S. financial markets are the most liquid, including the futures market.
 
Trading DAX and Hang Seng futures would give you allow you to trade starting at 3AM and 8PM US Eastern ST. respectively.

Thanks, but I want to trade only stocks for now. Any reason why you used the phrase "your safest bet"?

Thanks. I want to trade stocks only for now. Except by futures you are referring to stocks.
 
You're in US so CFDs aren't happening, therefore you have to pay the steep stamp tax for UK stocks.
Your alternatives are Euronext (mostly German, Dutch and French) stocks. Japanese stocks are also a viable option with ample liquidity.

Thanks. I found out about the CFD restriction for U. S. residents. I will definitely avoid LSE because of the stamp tax.
 
Does anybody have experience trading Australian Stock Exchange? How liquid is it? Your experience(s) will be appreciated.
