Trading Stocks in Germany

Hello everybody ,

I'm currently using Lynx and searching for a cheap alternative to trade stocks in Germany. IB is not expensive in US but not very cheap in Germany. As an option I consider DEGIRO, but they have only web platform, no API and no real-time quotes. I'm thinking about using a TWS Platform for real-time quotes and making a trading decisions, and then trade using DEGIRO. What do you think about DEGIRO and this approach. XETRA Stock Trade costs 2EUR+0,008% that makes 2,40 EUR for 5000 EUR Trade using DEGIRO, and 5 EUR using IB. Is there some other options?
 
I recomend you to try both. IB dont sell order flow but it is more expensive obviously.But most prices are not cheaper than 5$. But Im with a broker that sells it and I am very satisfied and it is not less than 5$.
 
Why would you care about who is your counterparty. Lets say they internalize. What if you are a large trader and buy into them? They choose how to edge his risk. If at the end is not worth for them to get into OTC maybe then they change strategy.

How much does it cost to trade in Germany/EU ?

I never considered the cost of trading in the EU. Is it much more than the U.S. ?

IB has the same prices wether you trade from the US or Europe, it's not clear from OP but he means prices to trade german stocks.
IB starts at 0.08% and it gets cheaper with larger single orders or high monthly volume.
Otherwise to trade US stocks it is the same from US or Europe, through IB at least, european brokers are generally more expensive than US brokers.
 
Xetra - Stocks costs 0.1% with a 4 Euro Minimum by IB
in our case 5000 Euro order costs 2,4 EUR by DEGIRO and 5 EUR by IB

The same operation in US cost 1 USD :(

It's a big difference. Let's say Market goes down and you have to close 20 positions - 100 EUR vs. 50 EUR vs. 20USD. And if it's 100 Positions?

That was my question and consideration how secure it is. They have a 20K Security (Einlagensicherung). It is not really much.

Another think was if you trade with a current rate or they have a small delay. Let's say you make a limit order to buy 100 stocks for 50EUR, and they wait till they find this stock for 49,98 and then sell it to you for 50. It even can be that the stock price goes till 50 for a shot time and then goes up, and your order is never executed.

IB unbundled pricing from memory is 0.08% +- exchange and other transaction fees, plus it gets cheaper for order larger than roughly 30keuros, it can comedown to a fraction of 0.08%.
