The inanity of trading message boards is just a given. Raising the level of discussion is seldom worth the effort. Asking anonymous people if they make money trading is indeed silly. We all know hardly anyone makes a substantial amount trading. This seems ironic when an entire industry has formed to teach the masses how to do it. It is not ironic at all when you understand that, in trading, mediocrity will not cut it. Purveyors of conventional wisdom all have one thing in common: they teach mediocrity to the fish. The moral? Don't be a fish.
I remind myself from time to time, we live in a type of fake world.
The fake world is created by 'marketing' to the masses, we are all subject to this constant bombardment of marketing.
Fiat currency survives via marketing, gold price, real estate, stock market, media papers, TV, religion, motorcars.... on & on it goes.
So with trading, we are sold this story of easy riches.
Yup, it's easy, after about half your lifetime studying it and participating. The initial years most commonly are the blowup of accounts years.
Most ET'ers will BS, that's because they wish to project something which isn't reality - That's marketing!
