Trading properly is SATISFYING & RELAXING

Quote from Jake777:

I disagree with you, scientist.

I think there are some things about trading that are truly glorious and special.

I am not the first person to say this. This is an endeavor where people are really given a chance, regardless of who they are and where they come from. You don't need the connections, you don't need the pedigree and you don't need all the other crap besides merit that people seem to care so much about sometimes. A chance at what you ask? A chance at their life. A chance to make something out of yourself. A chance to create something that can't be taken away because the results and the merits that you hold are there in black and white. Nobody can argue with that. For people who have been marginalized in society, there is nothing greater than this.

For me, trading was a salvation. I was never given much from anyone, and I never expected it. What pissed me off, however, was that they were never willing to give me even a slight, small chance to prove myself. If they would just give me a chance, they would never regret it. But they would never know, because they never did. The markets, however, never turned me away without giving me a chance. My money was ALWAYS good.

And everybody was on an equal plane. From the biggest dudes to the littlest guys, we were all same. My 10k was good as Soros' billions. And if I could just keep calm, sane, and do my homework, then I have a shot. And a shot was all I've been asking for all this time.

...All you have to do is overcome the vic (house edge), that's it...

Just a point of clarification. What you refer to as the "vic" is in fact the "vig," which is short for vigorish.

Quote from Girlpower:

Oh I agree with you when you look at it in that way. But suppose you think of it not in the daily compartmetns, but rather monthly, quarterly, semi/anually compartments.

So over the course of an avarage month, (or whatever timescale) there are up days and down days, but the results for the month/ other time period are up results, and the wages you pay yourself as a consequences are good wages. How does it then look?

Isn't that the same as having a good day at work or a bad day at work with some days being really good and others being really bad, and many being just simply Ok days?

So much has to do with the way things are viewed. Lets say for example you have a $100k trading account and you make 100k in the year, you will have made 1k some days lost 1 k others (the numbers are variable here), but during the year pay yourself 70k and increase your business assets by 30k, how does that day you lost 1k look in that perspective?

I agree. When I stopped looking at my trading on a day to day basis instead using a monthly time frame to judge my progress, it became alot less stressfull.

Its not the winning that's easy, its taking the losses and handling yourself like a gentleman.

that;s the true definition of enjoyable trading...

unfortunately, we only have those who care to participate here on these boards, and a lot of the losers just don't contribute.

pity, they could be on their way to healing and improving their perspectives and succeeding, if they just kept at it, slightly altered from their last attempts....
