trading platform comparsion for scalping

Quote from hanseng1:

If you're running standard cable or DSL internet and trying to scalp from home, you'll be at a speed disadvantage to those like Futurestrader71, who have dedicated direct lines to their data.

What is dedicated direct line? Do you mean he has
direct link to server at CME or Eurox exchange?

Please don't quote me on this (I read this in one of his posts a while back) but I understand he has a direct T1 line to his broker. As he put it, it is the fastest way to get the quotes and executions done. It is not an internet connnection; it is a peer-to-peer connection.

NB--------- Yes "all", the black box program is analyzing 8 futures products all at the same time making rapid fire trade executions through out the day. The only platform that I have seen used for this was xtrader. The only platform that was trusted to handle this was xtrader.

Sorry, I do not drink. :)

Everyone can have T1 line, but i think important is where
the broker server is located, is it in chicago? Is it located
in exchange building,...

futuretrader71, i remember him said to trade manually,
how come he remain alert and energetic enough to
trade 100s round turns without being automated?

You can do it for one day, two day, ....You will get a terrible
eye strain after few days, staring at monitor.

I don't think it's doable for longterm, you will lose your
health, i'm serious

hengseng1, are you in Asia?

May be smoking weed then? I don't think you need X-trader,
go back to tradestation, it will serve you better

nana-----------tradestation could never handle what the hedges are doing, to even think this on your part shows the smoke from your room.

I am awere that X-trader much faster, and thats
the strongest point, but it's not everyone cup of tea

But there are certain things that also TS can do,
where X-trader don't, and you have to be a very
good programer or find someone to integrate those
functions

I'm sure very soon,TS will let have new ways of
3rd party feed or it's data improvement into TS
platform for better result.

I agree with you that x is the best for the speed and execution of the trade. Tradestation has their advantages for automated trading, but I would really like it if they could upgrade their data/quote feed and trade execution speed. When the data is delayed it causes problems for the proper execution of an automated program that is dependant on quick reaction and efficient trade entry.

Tradestation has the resources to bring everything up to the best in the industry-----------I just do not know why they will not put forth the effort to become the best?
