Trading plan if Iraq war announced?

Defense stocks may rally but I can't see where it would be all that logical for them to do so, if it is just a war with Iraq. The U.S. allready has plenty enough to beat Iraq and probably wouldn't lose much in the process.

But the real common thread here is the fact that most see a real and present danger, but few have any intention of taking up arms themselves. As is so typical of the loud mouth American male, he wants some other sucker to actually do the fighting. And of course if there is no concern for his fellow American's wellbeing, there is even less for the millions of people who's homeland he is so willing to destroy.

yea pretty amazing that the word "War" means potential profits in the US, whereas anywhere else it means pack up your sh*t and prepare to move out of your home and into a shelter if the bombs start coming! Imagine that one day the powers shifted and the war is being fought on our land in cities we live in, I think at that point we would be pretty damn scare. In a way, I feel "blessed" to be in the US, but in a way I also feel like I'm like a "spoiled brat". sigh...

My opinion is that anything defense related is already trading at a short-term premium -
the adage of Wall Street - buy on rumour, sell on news -
How else do you explain when a stock falls immediately after an upside earnings suprise? the 'whisper" numbers were already out and the Specialist or MM were buying it up quietly several sessions prior to announcement... then they dump it after the Public piles on for a couple hours and buys at the top.
Then after the stock tanks, the Boys come back and buy it up again, cheap.
If a war is announced, defense stocks will likely pop up just long enough to catch the suckers before it drops.

While most of us have no doubt that hitler needed doing for early.. recall that some of us were fighting for our lives for years before the US decided after actually being attacked by japan and waiting until hitler actually DECLARED war on you before joining in.. not me personally of course! NO, I am grateful for the sacrifices of earlier generations that have helped to save me from the horror of war. Such as my father, visiting me this very day in ireland.. 84 years old. The man who joined up at 18, a child really, who was in france and missed the boats at dunkirk, who fought his way south to get out elsewhere, who fought with the partisans in the mountains of italy, who only last year told me for the first time that he was at monte cassino.. for those who don't know what war is like.. look that up in your history books.. that is war.. it sometimes takes a lifetime to be even able to talk about.. just consider...

If you are not going to be involved in any possible battle, will you be trading? And if you will be trading, will you only select vehicles that cannot be influenced by a Middle East war? Is that really possible?
I agree, most of our enemies were armed by the US. But when those same countries pose a threat to our way of life, they need to be eliminated. If they are not, they will cause greater destruction later. And history proves that. Hitler, Milosivich, and others killed innocent people, and many more soldiers had to die to stop these men. If you think the Islamic Extremist will stop with Jews and Americans you're crazy. They want to rule the world, just like every other extremist before them. They will kill bhudist, christians, protestants, and even muslims who don't belive in their extreme view. No matter what mistakes we made in the past y funding some of these extremist early on for our own gains elsewhere, we can't compound the problem by letting grow into an uncotrollable monster.
