trading options after hours?

Quote from just_dabbling:

Can you elaborate please?
Also, what about pre-open?
Can institutional traders do it?
Thanks.

I imagine institutional traders can get an OTC options market whenever they choose, albeit with some pretty wide bid/offers.

QQQ are just about the only options I ever trade and they close 15 minutes after the AMEX equity close.
Thanks. Where can I find out more about this?
I'd like to know what the official regulations on this are b/c this has implications for after hours equity trading, at least in theory (e.g. if you are informed, you might have preferred to take a position via options but such route may not be available, thus, ceteris paribus this would increase the % of informed traders in after hours.)
Thanks again.
