Trading on "Instynct" (NQ)

intra day bias short which is my time frame so i was looking for shorts. I did take a long for a profit in the last hour.

i also saw signs of longer term trend weakening with a TL break in the a.m. I did have lots of upsloping TL's still on my chart so i was watching those as well

Well, I am stuck in short positions in my sim trading, but today was definitely a losing day for me. I misread things from the open and missed the good runs.

Do any of you have a problem of limiting your profits..? I close out trades with a seemingly subconscious limit which seems to be 15 to 20 points regardless of what the markets want to give for the day.

Probably fear based.. I have ATM's to take advantage of a certain percentage of volatility but as soon as I get in the trade, instead of managing the stop I am immediately lowering the profit target.. Got long 2315 and ATM was set for 50% recent ATR for 30 points.. Sold 2330 in a heartbeat. Granted it was a possible pausing area..
 
I think you know i do. I just wish 15 - 20 was my profit point.
Around 10 for me and i'm out. Happened today despite a strong move . left another easy 7 on the table

My plan is when i get consistent to add cars and try scaling out. That or hope my PA read and discipline improve
 
I could be dreaming, BUT.. If you are able to get in the correct direction with price moving AWAY from the closest and recent high/low less than 1 hour into trading why not hold for at least 1/3 or 1/2 recent daily volatility? Yes volatility will change but that's the reason for not attempting more than 1/2. As a filter do this in direction of the larger trend only.

It is a VERY difficult thing for me to accomplish but it is the goal in my trading. Not one day in 6 months have I managed to pull it off. Incredible.. This from someone that used to swing stocks for days..

Has something to do with caring too much about money.

Good chart... 2360 key to confirm new down-trend.
 
short term charts still look higher to me but that failed bo and resistance on 30 minute might get this to flip to pretty soon to downside before days done

Would have been HARD but VERY profitable to hold.. In trading like life, if you want results most people cannot get you must do things most people cannot do. If you put in average effort you get average results..

Apple effect in action now.. Funny thing is I fully expected 2360 today with the report due today.
