Yeah, forgot....I was thinking maybe even Oliver Stone (that was Wall Street), but was too lazy to look it up. Read the book..Great book. First fiction ever by Tom Wolfe. (read Man in Full about a year ago...another winner)Originally posted by PubliasEnigma

OK I know, this movie doesn't have any trading in it. It's actually about poker. However I've found several parallels to trading(discipline, keeping cool under pressure, tricks they do to manipulate the other players, etc).
All in all I like this movie a lot and I don't play poker or any casino games for that matter. But I can see how after much experience, one could win at the game. This is how it is with stocks also.

In some other thread here, I stated that Education of a Poker Player, a book by Herbert Yardley, was a great book for traders. Yardley and Livermore were from around the same era...Yardley maybe a little more recent...but I got more out of Yardley's book than maybe any single source. I mean, this guy tells you how to win at choosing "odds and evens". And I have no idea if he ever traded a stock in his life. But he changed my life permanently over 25 years ago. I read it again just a month or so ago. Hard to get. Took over a month from Amazon. Worth the wait. And if you DO play poker.......well I made a Good living playing in Vegas for about 6 months when I had to.Originally posted by Tony01
