"Let's see, he's an established successful trader ........"
Say's who? In the absence of proof he could just as well be a very marginal of even unsuccessful trader who has turned to running a chatroom as a means of making a living and capitalizing on his connections. I don't know one way or the other and neither does almost everyone else here. In the absence of continuing authenticated results who's to tell? That is the thrust of one or my arguments in this thread.
Seeing as you started counting my posts and Turok has counted yours, I see that chartwhiz has links to his free educational site which happens to be associated with a commercial chatroom (if you wish me to be precise) on
pgs 1, 2(3times), 3, 4, 7, 9, 10(twice) 22(4 times) 27, and 28
for a total of 16, not to mention his email address and publicity of his upcoming magazine articles and his personal appearance.
I was on Silicon Investor today and noticed he started similar activities there before he came here. He was also challenged there before I even knew of him on the issue of drawing attention to commerial activities in a discussion group. So, it's not as if he didn't know people are sensitive to this issue. Why, even the second post in this thread raised the same flags and it wasn't me.
He was brought to this site by Brandonf who has also drawn attention to himself and his commercial activities by running his own thread(s) on Silicon Investor and was supported by Toni (Brandon's partner, who may even have joined ET just for this purpose) and by ChrisRT (who, if I guess his identity correctly) does the same thing there with his partner Threei. Here's an example of Brandon's latest contribution there.
"Just a quick general announcement that the new site is just about ready for official launch, and though I will have less to do with this one than I have in the past, Toni will still be around and she does a great job. The site is at
http://www.tradingfrommainstreet.com "
This gives the flavour of how these things develop. Brandon too started out just being helpful. See my point about where does one draw the line between education and promotion? How many vendors should we have here "educating" us? Where do we draw the line between those who are credible ( they are not all trained by LBR you know) and those who are not? Who decides?
I would second the view expressed earlier that Baron could set up a separate section where all the commercial vendors can have their own threads and competitively tout their wares and skills, run question and answer services and generally be helpful. But I think they should all pay Baron for the priviledge and only Baron should be able to ban critics and sceptics.
Then they would be behaving like professional commercial enterprises and we would all know where they are coming from. It still wouldn't remove my concern about documented trading results though.
I don't even mind them contributing to other discussions where people are seeking advice. I would object though if all their replies started with " if you click this link.....", directing people to their own commercial sites. Other vendors manage to conduct themselves with decorum here and I don't think you can find a post of mine that attacks their conduct (not credibility). But, in my opinion Chartwiz did not.
