I have mentored a few (seven) people. Four of my students are profitable; two are not currently trading; and I lost contact with the seventh, so I don't know how she's doing. Three of my students were women; four were men.

I conduct an interview and get to know people before accepting them as students. Most people never get beyond that, because I can tell they don't have the stomach for trading.

I recommend skipping past this poser. Awhile back he asked a basic programming question, the type that someone with even beginner level skills shouldn't need to ask. When I supplied the answer his response indicated he was thick, if thick is the term to use to describe someone who lays a bed of pretense that indicates success and yet in reality .. is incapable of grasping even a simple answer.

It was mystifying to me at first, but after reading more of his writings I formed the conclusion it's probable he's incapable of grasping the contradictions within his ET persona.
 
Read countless books, articles, watched youtube channels, videos and read diverse forums on diverse aspects of trading (mostly technical). Much of this had for free, but only a starting point no matter how much time you spend, as it's mostly about forming concepts and ideas in your mind in order to begin asking the right questions about the markets. Spending money might make you more focused, but no guarantees for success.

When you start seeing possibilities in the markets play out, and ask the right questions, can you begin to uncover that 99% of ideas out there are unusable garbage. For you anyway, maybe useful to someone else.

Mentorship, when it happens can be a beautiful thing, but is a happening. You cannot and should not force the flower petals to blossom. It'll happen in it's own God damned time.

You sound sincere, appreciate your comment so I'll reply and I agree there's no sense in executing someone else's ideas using your own money. I decided to be my own mentor going forward. I was following a "mentor" for a while who at first impressed me but later made bad call after bad call. I've since disconnected. Over the period I watched chart action all day long and learned much just from that. One motto I really like, and it's not from the crazy cowboy mentor I quit is " like your stocks but LOVE your stops". My next trade will be NFLX either Monday in post m or Tuesday morning.
