trading maxim - 8 down days, 9th day up?

Quote from Johnny Utah:

Actually, it goes like this:

If on the 9th day, the Close is higher than the former Close, then the 9th day will be an up day.

If on the 9th day, the Close is lower than the former Close, then the 9th day will be a down day.

I absolutely guarantee this works 100% of the time. If anyone needs the details of this system, I can sell you the whole thing for only $3995. I take paypal.

Quah: You forgot about gaps.

very good. Better wording than Quah. I am surprised how many peoples read thread correctly and understand that. Just wonder why 90% peeps are on losing side.   :D

this thread is the perfect example (reminds me of zerosum thread) of how people post before even understanding what is posted/what they are reading, only see what they want to see, and are so loathe to admit they are wrong lest the axhammer of cognitive dissonance splits their head in two

one thing is certain. people who cannot observe the present, and who cannot admit they are wrong, are fodder for the markets

good for them. it's called liquidity.

I didn't forget about them - I purposely left that part out. I save that part for only the people that pay my subscription fee.

Thanks a lot for letting out the rest of the grail! :(

Quote from crimony:

What is the old maxim about consecutive down days? Isn't it if there are 8 consecutive down days, the 9th day will most likely be a strong up day? Thanks.

not worth discussing this issue due to only a few such cases happened in history.
For DOW, since 1960. You get 34 such streaks with 16 down and 17 up on the ninth day. So it does not make any sense to follow such pattern.

But if you trade NASDAQ, since 1984, you get 6 up and 1 down on the ninth day.
