Well, I watched Larry Williams eat intact light bulbs, twice. Not sure if he ate the filaments too, or just the glass.
Spent a fair bit of time with Tom DeMark back in late 2001. Most of it was a casual setting over dinner & drinks. If you've never met Tom, picture Robin William's mind focused on trading. Absolutely brilliant mind, it runs at the speed of light, his speech almost keeps pace with that.
Fascinating to visit with, somewhat exhausting to try and keep up with. Tom also knows just about everyone in the industry, "famous" and anonymous. His insider stories about whom did/does what sure were enlightening.
Definitely one of the more interesting people I have met.

Had the chance(s) to meet many other well-known names in our profession. Some are real traders, some are not. One guy peddles his own books = videotapes on a certain aspect of charts that made him so famous, hedge funds pay huge consulting fees to train their staff directly.
This guy is at every trade show imaginable, top name speaker... but by his own admission has never traded anything in his life. Never had a trading account in his name, period!
Straight from the source on that one.

Also worked with a guy who wrote a hardcover book on technical analysis. This book is on the shelf at any major bookstore you visit. While visiting with him at work one day, I was trading some S&P 100 index options while he watched over my shoulder.
Trade went in my favor, he got all excited and dashed off to grab a notepad & pen. Upon his return, said tech analysis expert = published book author told me he favored trading indexes and HOLDRs above individual stocks.
In his next sentence he asked me in all seriousness, "Now, what is the symbol for OEX?"

You just cannot make this kind of stuff up
