Trading is not a legitimate business!

Quote from PuffyGums:

I have an MSA marketed thru State Farm with insurance by Fortis. The insurance portion costs $138/mo for one person. Deductible is $2500. Make sure have taken all the exclusions you can, such as rejecting coverage for drug addiction etc... That could reduce your total quite a bit.

im working with fortis right now. hoping to hear those kinds of numbers and make a switch. i think age has a lot to do with rates. we are 50 so get higher rates.

Oh, and here is how I solved the self-employed health insurance issue. I married a girl who works for a company with a great insurance plan.

I highly recomment that alternative.

Now there's a smart trader if ever I saw one! Good on you!:)

In France girls who work in sex shop are considered to be acting illegally so they have no right like social security ... but still they have to pay (heavy) tax. If Small Business Services are happy to accept you it's probably for the same kind reason : it's for your tax :D

Quote from rcmcdougall:

Here is an interesting one. I was denied health insurance under a group plan by Tufts Health Plan of Massachusetts on the basis that my activities were not a legitimate business since I am not "transacting commerce with third parties", according to them. Apparently a Schedule C and D did not impress them, nor an offer to speak with my accountant.

The Small Business Services bureau are happy to accept me as a business so maybe another HMO would be an option - any suggestions/other experiences? Thanks in advance. - RCM.

Move to Canada...........free health care....plus the Canadian dollar, although getting stronger, is still worth less than the US........Traders who get paid in US live like Kings.

From what I understand good luck if you need a medical procedure. You can wait months or years. Many Canadians come to the US to have things like angioplasty, etc done rather than having their life hanging like a ticking time bomb.

I did the same thing Wally, and the more I read threads on health care on this site I am more and more thankful.

There are really two classes of people, those with health care and those without.

Quote from marketsurfer:

sorry, that is inaccurate. a health insurance company is bound by certain rules and regulations. sometimes they need to be forced to do the right thing.

best,

surfer:)

true but why so quick to use word discrimination. a word which is overused in this country and used to coerced to others.

I'm from MA and I go through Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA and ask for an individual plan. Otherwise when u call a provider ask if there is a small business associations that offer insurance through them.
