We can count on one hand maybe those making well over 6 figures day trading. Let's be honest, it is not about whether one can make money day trading, I know that you can and many here have experience to prove it.
But tick phucking is not an efficient way to make money. To spend 40-60 hours a week looking at charts and studying trades and watching screens to make $3k a month is not killing it. I bet if most of the magical day traders here took the hours they put in and divided it into the amount of actual money they make, the hourly wage would not rival a low paying job.
Look at how many beginners are pounding away for hours a day with their small accounts to be up a few grand and think they are making money. If they put the same amount of time in a business they would earn way more. I run two businesses and my best year trading never beat one of my best months now. Ok not everyone is in a position to start and grow a business, I get it. But many quit jobs making $20 - $40/hour if calculated to trade full time making half that thinking they are living the life.
I am not telling you that you cannot day trade and make money. I am telling you that to think you can do this for a "living" is ridiculous unless you are single, have no debt and are ok living like a pauper in your 20s. But no way you are having a girlfriend/wife/family and stuff tick phucking.
Given the traders I have ran across in my life, 99% who say so are lying. Most of the traders who are trading for a living as they claim, have side income, are wealthy from other sources or are supported by someone else.
You want to trade for a living? Stop these dreams of tick phucking for $125,000 a year. Could you have a $125,000 year? Sure. Can you do it annually over 5 -10 years and live well? No.
Anyone who says differently can never prove it to be honest. 1 - 2 years is not a living, they are simply good years. Every major trader in Forbes list is there because they created a business, i.e. trading company, and make their money form that while still trading. Warren Buffet is not rich from investing, investing is what he does with his billions he makes off of owning businesses. There is a difference even down to our level not working with billions.
Seen too many newbies chase the fantasy. Trading itself is hard enough, let's not pile on unrealistic expectations.
