it's doable..
say you have an engineering degree, some skill in high demand... in this job market, you get salary to about 125k, very common for mid career engineer... then you go independent there is your $125/hour rate for 250k a year.... saving 8k a month is nothing... i mean you are independent anyway if you go trading on your own.
