Trading in a Different Country

Yes I recall hearing that most of the English-speaking Caribbean, except Haiti and DR, is quite good for bandwidth. Unfortunately my net worth is not at the point that I could afford USVI or BVI. I believe it's about min $1mil US for a home there. I don't need boatloads of bandwidth, just reliable high speed like DSL or cable.

Panama is very good, because they are connected to the Trans Pac Fiber link, in Panama City, I can speak decent Spanish, and you can get a nice high rise condo overlooking the Caribbean for about $350k US and taxes are next to nil.

Honestly at this point it's more of a dream, but it is good to plan because it starting to get closer to reality.

It would be hard to leave the US though. I have a fair amount of family here.
You should also consider Costa Rica... the cost of internet is quite low there since the Gov subsidised ISP installed excesive fiberwire capacity to handle the demand during the next 20 years or something of that sort... you can get several Mbps for only a few hundreth bucks per month... [and I heard they want to build a fiber link to compete with Panama's]

ohh and the condos start at $100k.

Really, that's funny, because ppl I have spoken to say that Panama is the Costa Rica before gringos overan the Costa Rica. That CR is actually about 20-30% more $$ than Panama. CR is a nice place though from everyone I have talked to and what I have read and heard. Either would be nice as they are 1 hour ahead of me now, so I can get more done before starting the trading session.

Malta, from my very short time there off the cruise ship, is a very nice place. People speak English, and it used to be a good tax haven, not anymore since joining the EU. Very laid back, and that's in Valetta, the most busy/crowded city. I don't about the broadband connections, if you are day trading though.

Heck I would like Roatan, Honduras, but they don't have broadband, just 56k, which isn't suitable for day trading. Neither does Belize. Panama, there they have good broadband and are American friendly.

My good friend trades in Ukraine from market open ER2 til close and he starts at 3:30-10:30 at night. He misses some EOD moves because he doesn't want to work that late. They have a flat tax of around 15%, but many don't pay it. So does the Slovac Republic. I might be slightly off on the percentages. I might consider there in future because of some family that lives in Easter Europe.

That's why I was asking if he was just making that up...what an idiot. Maltese is a mutant sounding language...but almost everyone speaks English due to it being an English territory until the 60s or so.

Very nice place...I spent a month or so there, thought about living there. In the end it's a tiny island, as beautiful as it is, it's a small island.

The real downfall for me was lack of discount flights to the rest of Europe...couldn't get a plane ticket for less than $400 roundtrip or so if I remember correctly whereas anywhere else in Europe is less than $200 to almost any other location in Europe.

Compared to Panama...Costa Rica blows. It's like selling people a used Dodge while there is a newer Lexus around the corner for sale cheaper and with more features.

Costa Rica lacks just about every thing that makes most Latin American wonderful. Culture, food, people, prices, etc. Costa Rica is so overhyped it's ridiculous.

Panama is much more liveable. Even the beaches in Panama are 10X nicer than in Costa Rica.

why don't you try china??? it is a good place and nowadays ,there are many policies favorite for foreigners.

more and more westerners come here and live a happy life..

the city i am living now(XIAMEN) is a good example.

another thing they don't have is an army... so you don't have the sort of problems you might find in Venezuela now a days...
and I love costarrican food... [Im costarrican so Im biased on this one, but casados rule!]

Hi there,

I'm also looking at the Belize tax haven. Did you find out any more information about them? I very interested in the IBC and FOREX traded funds which they are promoting.

Cheers,

Nat

I went on Google and typed in the words "tax-free brokerage". It came up with a few off-shore brokerages such as the following:
