Hopefully they will allow 3rd party applications/API in the future.
We do have an API that third parties have integrated with and plan on making this publicly available in Q1 of 2017. We'll put an announcement out on ET when this is available.Therein is my issue. I have used SierraCharts for years, and have developed my own studies. I'm locked into SierraChart, unless/until I decide to refactor or forego my work. Since I know tradovate reads this, I will mention, Sierra works with CQG feed [wink], and others!
For FCM diversification and other reasons, in early Nov16, I opened an account with a different Dorman IB. I continue to use Sierra.
Trade On!
Will individual traders be allowed to use this API for automated trading? We do have an API that third parties have integrated with and plan on making this publicly available in Q1 of 2017. We'll put an announcement out on ET when this is available.
If you are interested in using Sierra Chart at Tradovate, please make sure to indicate this interest to Sierra Chart as well.
Yes, this will be available for both individual traders and third-party platforms. Will individual traders be allowed to use this API for automated trading?

This is great news. Thanks for the update.Yes, this will be available for both individual traders and third-party platforms.
While we can't comment on the costs related to CQG at other firms, we can say that Tradovate does not charge additional order routing fees and what our customers pay on transactions above exchange and NFA fees is a $0.09 per contract clearing fee, since we are not a clearing firm. We have our own proprietary platform and don't charge extra for that either, so it is simply a different experience than what you may find with many other futures brokers. Its just that everywhere else I look CQG charges 50c RT for routing. This is the normal CQG rate. Are you saying that Dorman and CQG are splitting clearing and routing into this 7c per contract?
J_smith, this is not very friendly, but if that is how you want to act, ok, it is your decision. All I wanted to share here with fellow traders was and is a great opportunity for serious traders. I enjoy to encourage good people and good companies. There is enough negative thinking in the world, enough people who think they have to bash everybody and everything. I prefer to encourage good people instead of bashing.
