Trading Forex

about taking my retirement next month
ok we are in the same boat....I am 62 years...give me call and we can have a nice talk.....not about trading but anything else...my favorite is young girls..cant do anything but talk about them

that is why I spend time trading

but probably with $1k or so if I do
you have no clue what is forex...I started in forex after trading stocks for 20 years with 3000 usd...I think I lost it in 2 weeks

suggest start with 5 usd….if GS does not take that and your underwear and your house -they will leave the dog- for 2 weeks... then you can add some

edit if you do not wear Jockey they will leave that... GS likes jockey only

I have never gone long and then short so I decided I should do that..
just to get used to it

Seriously though,

i only learn when i lose....that is why i lose maybe on purpose

this loss has taught me how to enter in trends....the trend may be your friend but you must learn how to enter ....

their home ....in India they do not have guns like you have there.. so it is easier.

what is a Linux? do not use any sort of animal

sorry I should have said I have no clue...but the collective wisdom of ET is good...I think that had a lot to do with my success

I trade both on PC or on laptop depending on the weather
the room where the PC is has no air conditioning so when it is hot I use laptop in the ac bedroom

Linux is another Operating System for computers. Not Windows. Not DOS. Not Mac. Not OS/2. Most Windows applications do not run on a computer running Linux. Some apps have versions for Linux computers, and some will run in a virtual machine on the Linux system, or in a Windows emulator such as Wine. The whole process of running a Windows app on Linux is sort of dodgy in general and not recommended for any sort of financial work.

Two US brokerages have trading platforms that will run on a Linux PC. There are web based trading platforms as you probably know but it is better to have the trading software actually reside on the user's machine. Linux offers advantages, particularly security advantages, over Windows. However Linux, being free, has no marketing budget and cannot bully PC makers into buying the OS which is free, anyway. So the user base is much smaller, but growing as more people get fed up with Windows. Anyway most brokerages couldn't care less about Linux users. Their position instead of saying, "Yeah okay, we need to release a Linux version of our software for you Linux guys" is "why not just use Windows, so you can use our software?" LOL. Anyway not every brokerage caters to Linux users. My account is with IB and they do. Linux might be an entertaining and educating topic for you to google some time when you aren't busy. I wouldn't just jump right in to installing it on your trading computer without a lot of thought and a few weeks of using linux for more casual pursuits, though.

Actually I just looked and yes I can trade forex on IB. https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=759

I knew you could display currency pair charts and prices in IB's trading platform, (Trader Workstation), but didn't realize I could trade forex as well. I doubt if IB offers such high forex leverage though.
