also, if the debt problem is resolved do you see a decline in gold ?

Everyone is different depending on their risk tolerance/capital and trading plan. I use different option strategies and/or go short it outright. Put options for NFLX at this point (depending on your time horizon) isn't as attractive as it was a few weeks ago.
I'm not familiar with ELGX.
i guess i need to get a better understanding of options and stuff. is it something that can be done through any broker?
I know once on paper trading with think or swim i tried to "buy" gold and ended up with some future or option or something that ended up giving me some crazy leverage, but im not sure how it iworks exactly.
when i contact think or swim they told me that that option is not availible to trade through them and it is only there for paper trading

I'm not familiar with think or swim. I use IB myself.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to trade option unless they know what they are getting into. I've been at this for a while and I don't use it a lot. The gains certainly are spectacular (like the AAPL trade)...but it can also ruin you very fast.

Were you trying to buy futures contracts on /GC or options on /GC?
I recently asked TOS support for help on which futures have options available through TOS. It turns out, there's only a limited set. Log in the main website. Then go to menu -> Why ThinkOrSwim -> Order Types and Products -> Futures in the submenu, then click on a type of future product in the submenu of the central table. Under "tradable options" it lists which futures have tradable options:
So far, only 6E, ZC, ZS, ZW, NQ, ES, CL, NG . I heard OptionsExpress.com has a better selection of options on futures and overall cheaper commissions, but their trading platform is horrid visually, compared to TOS
I've been using TOS since I started trading. TOS has the best options analysis graphing features. Once you learn how , it's not hard putting on options or option spreads. The hard part is adjusting or knowing when to take profits and when to take a stop loss. Especially since price moves against the order quite often and going against your order's time decay orientation.

On the chart all i could do is draw a trend line ?
theres no channels or fiboacchis ? i thought this would be the basics.
I cant see myself using sterling. if i had to i would rather use tos even though my data with tos is delayed, and buy and sell through sterling.
im now very worried to switching platforms what i thought was basics is actually advanced it seems. i need those drawings all of them and i need them to show on every time frame.
im looking at working with a prop firm and think that instead of looking at fees looking at platform will be a better choice.
i wonder if taking data from sterling and using on tos would work ?

Debt ceiling was lifted; wow, that was a big surprise! I'm not sure what it was a big deal; this ceiling has been lifted over the past decades! One thing for certain, unless the US reverses its current spending habits, the USD will keep on making new lows.
