Trading e-minis with $1k starting capital

Quote from NickelPincher:

after reading thru all this, i don't think indexscalper is that far off from from becoming profitable.

he seems to have mastered his strategy and is somewhat consistent. and consistancy is key, else everything would just be a flip of the coin. all he needs to do is tweak it a little.

he needs to adjust his method to one similar to the George Costanza method of trading. because he is consistent, adopting the GC method should show instant positive results.

Hi NP,

I quickly flicked through the GC scribbling and never once did I read intraday VST ES trading.
In fact I thought that I saw the word "stocks" on more than one ocassion.

What am I missing.

HolyGrail nailed it on the head. it's doing the opposite.

or from the link above...

George discovered that by doing the opposite of what his emotions and intellect were telling him to do he could be successful.

Until we get the hang of intraday trading it can be very frustrating for some, and that is why a little humour occasionally can work wonders at clearing the mind.

Anyway, a thought has occurred to me.
Last week the OP made around 90 bucks while his broker walked off with maybe 500 bucks.

Added together this shows a 50% return on the Ops account.

So, why doesnt the OP marry his broker and that way the money stays in the family.
Dont knock 50% per week, in no time at all they will be rich.

Nice. :)

Or he could take up poker. With the same size bankroll in the same time period, I made more than twice as much, while the site I played on got only 15% of what his broker walked off with. And I played less than an hour a day.

I can only hope that if and when I start an e-mini journal (in the next month or two) it will be as much fun as this one.

Ah, more good stuff amongst the hilarity.

I hope the OP had luck trying ring money out of "VSTing" that muck.

Another bad day. My setups worked without a glitch but I failed to execute them according to my plan. Today should have been a positive day.

Products traded: ES, ER2
Contracts: 43
Opening balance: 1228
Closing balance: 1025
Net P/L: -203
Discipline: 2

very sorry about today for you...To IndexScalper...an interesting question is...what is your schedule, job, profession that allows you to trade the ES fulltime...obviously you are not living off off your small gains...just very curious...must have a job (self-employed) where you can stop in and trade 1 ES contract like 27 times per day...great trading to you!

The OP started the thread on 3/20 -- after about 2 weeks of trading he is down

The good news is he didnt blow out the account
The bad news is there does not appear to be enough consistency to actually make money

frustration may eventually take its toll
