I agree with you, it's another way to do that, but with usb 2.0 it's slow and you can't even run a movie on both screens, because it lags too much. So, to have it run like a real multimonitor system, you should use usb 3.0 hub (to have many usb 3.0 ports) around 25$ for 4 ports, and adaptators usb to dvi, or usb to vga, according to what type of connector you want to use.But these adaptators should be 3.0 too, and that's expensive, around 90$ only one.
So if you want to do a triple monitor system, you reach almost 300$.
The matrox stuff cost a few dollars more than 300$.
If you use usb 3.0 and adaptators system, it's great, but it's not powerful enough to run a game in multiscreen mode.
But with the matrox triplestuff, you can do it very well, that means, it's powerful, stable, and doesn't require any memory of your computer. The only problem is that your laptop or pc should have a descent graphic card, but all the machines of the last 3 or 4years have graphic cards that can deal with matroxstuff.
So due to those facts, i choosed to buy the matrox and be quiet and sure everything will run good, and i'll be able to play games and do crazy things without any lag with the monitors. Planning to have it this weekend, and i'll give you a feedback, or post my new trading desk pictures. Just received the screens, so waiting for the new SSD, the matrox stuff, and the Ram to extend my memory to 12gb of ram.
