He said that he never has a losing trade. If a trade moves against him he says that he "averages down" to avoid any loss and he rejects any conventional risk management.

RCG reminds me of the guy who says he makes money every day but also loses money every day. It is a play on words to say he trades often enough each day that some trades are bound to be small winners. It says nothing about his over all profitability each day or in the long term.
 
How can a guy who has to average down say he is making money everyday?

I tried to gently tell him but he did not seem impressed with my credentials as a risk guy. (shrug) He said something about my conservative thinking being flawed, something like that.
