Quote from 2manywhiners:
Okay, I've got a good follow up. I went out the other night and decided to play a game. I wanted to see how many working numbers I could get in one evening, by claiming to be a sanitation worker and also a janitor. The rules were: a) I had to dress down to nearly casual wear, as opposed to my normal wardrobe for going out, and I couldn't use after-shave or cologne; b) I was unshaven (5 o'clock shadow), with an untucked shirt, no belt, white socks, and no jewelry of any kind c) go to the same clubs and bars I normally would go to; d) try to pick up the same caliber of women (only 8's or better) I would normally try to pick up.
So, it went like this... I originally intended to only try to pick up women with the "I'm a sanitation worker (trash man)..." lines, but after seven good-looking girls I only had one working telephone number. So, I switched to the "I'm a janitor..." line. I finished with five working numbers after approaching thirteen women. The goal was fourteen women, but unfortunately I ran into someone I knew. So, I was one-for-seven as a trash man, yet four-of-six as a janitor. What does that tell us? Hot women don't mind dating hot janitors. However, hot trash guys are almost out of the question. Note: there is merit that should be given to the fact that I had become more comfortable after approaching the first four or five women, and I had also worked up a pretty good buzz by the time I switched into janitor mode. I was good and drunk by probably number ten. I'm a pretty funny guy when I'm drunk (not very modest though) and at first I was trying to be more slick than funny. Maybe there is no difference, but in my opinion, hot guys that throw trash for a living are much less desirable to women than a janitor. Then again, four-of-six are pretty fair odds for a well dressed Securities Trader. However, I would say that the odds for a hot guy in military uniform are far superior though... it's like 19-for-20 or better...
Note: for those of you who remember my vacation thread, the answer is yes I was seeing someone and it was getting serious, however, shit got even more complicated than it already was...
