TradeStation Significantly Increases List of Stocks that can be Shorted

Quote from mktman:

IB has had and ocassionally still does have many of the troubles you complain that TS has. Lets face it every broker has troubles no matter how long they have been in business. Is IB imperfect? Yes. Is TS imperfect? Yes. Someone always gonna be complaining about every broker. Cant make everyone happy. On the broker side of the business IB had its own growing pains when getting going. Many of the same problems you complain TS has. Since IB brokerage business has been operational for quite a few years longer than TS(only 2 years?), wouldnt one think they are going through the same growing pians IB went through? Any business goes this route not just limited to brokers.

My hold time on phone 2 days ago was 10 minutes. Lets see I guess thats too long considering many in that area still without power, food, water etc. btw they just started getting mail delivery yesterday. 10 days with no mail. Luckily, there hq wasnt in katrinas path.

Agree you can't make everyone happy, but we are taking about a business. Ib and other brokers use us at our expense. We are the ones who pay for the mistakes. Growing pains? then there should be warnings, especially with the upgrades and or bust the orders or compensate the trader. We are on the losing side immediately as they have our money.
Short lists really have no value if once the market starts to move the stock becomes - unavailable at this time.
Personally I just want a broker who will maintain ethical behaviour, answer emails in a timely manner and execute an order promply.
To often it is too convenient that we lose data etc, cannot exit our positions and not as a result of our actions.
This game is getting worse over the years not better.

They now have added a third server farm for backup.

Can they be better? Yes.
Can IB? Yes.
I see a few threads about IB complaints this week.
Ooops.

i can open an account and use there software for $120 a month are so. also i hear all the time there quotes lag badly. for anyoine scaling in and out on even 10k shares a day the savings are 1k amonth

my friend has had tradestaion and he's complained for ayear the quotes lag compared to signal. i know they have some very nice charting features and i've lo0oked at opening an account. again ib's smart fills are second to none with lower commissions so why not use both?

I agree, I do most of my trades at IB. How about IB buys TS, putting together good software with a great broker.

No Chance. TS makes major chances by end year 2005
and with number of customers increasing means more
markets and better data feed. I won't be surprised if
tradestation doubles it's asset in next two year.

IB's strong point is it's data feed, access to more markets only.
TWS platform is nothing especial even after teaming up
with X-trader

Tradestation will beat IB, if improves feed and give access
to more international markets, commission is second priority here

Hope you are right about TS.
