Tradestation ES data

You guys might want to try Sierra Charts or Quotetracker with your IB feed. I have recently been trying both out and am very impressed. I used to be a dedicated TS user, but not any more.
 
thanks woody. excellent suggestions. do they have minimal TA tools or any ability to write indicators? (not to sound lazy)... are they plug and play with IB's api? your suggestions are much appreciated. thanks!

Yes they both have TA tools. To me, Sierra Charts is a little more similar to TS and seems to have most of the same indicators/TA tools. Their line drawing tools are not as good as Quote Tracker, but I think they are working on making changes in the next release. Quotetracker is more limited in that it only allows you to chart back a few days. I think it is currently 2 days for the trial version.

As far as API, I do not know anything about API. I do know it is fairly easy to download, set up the software and connect to the datafeed. The major drawback is that if you lose your internet connection you will need to have an alternate way of filling in your charts for the missed data. I believe both programs have alternate data subscription services that allow you to do that and can also serve as the primary data feed.

I have just been trying them out over the last few weeks so I don't have that much experience with them yet. There are probably more experienced users on the board, but let me know if you have any other questions.
 
TS hookup direct to CME/CBOT is delayed until next weekend :mad:

DAMN IT! What a horrible decision. All this week, I've been counting the days... telling myself, just five, four, three, two, one more days of dealing with this crap (virtually EVERY MORNING when there's any kind of decent move going on), and then either getting a good feed or moving somewhere else.

I am switching to my back up data provider. It’s one thing to say ‘expected sometime in <month>’ and miss that target, but to already give a date like June 7th and then still push it off, is NOT GOOD…..for TS or their subscribers who urgently need this critical upgrade (already way overdue) that is so fundamental of any real-time data provider and a necessity for real-time traders.

well, it's obvious that they probably don't have any institutional clients. this would never fly. now i know why my old firm dumped the product. my finger's fast on the trigger too. why pay an arm and a leg for substandard data? as if that wasn't bad enough, they're the worst i've ever seen in terms of managing expectations. must be either mayhem or a smokeout over at tradestation.
