The guy I learned from was like this - discretionary with stocks on a daily timeframe for swing and intermediate trades, and one minute chart for scalping. I bought a couple of his DVD sets and they didn't show the whole setup, though it became obvious when I reverse engineered a few of his trades. I had his daily updates for over a year. His most repeated phrase: "stack all the odds in your favor" I.e. fundamentals, market mood, trend, buy signal, though he did not use elliot wave.
