I studied for many years with a western mystery school, but it is entirely verifiable through personal meditatation or referencing adepts of every age and culture, all agree the substance of all life is mind... even scientists are starting to say the universe looks like a giant thought and cutting edge quantum physics only makes sense if the very energy that is the building blocks of all matter is mind... the universe is actually an expression of gods self awareness
it is these kinds of falsehoods that the church spreads to keep the pew sitters ignorant. sometimes it seems like christians believe that jesus went around handing out bibles. there are no original copies of the bible in existence. there are only copies of copies dating from about the 3rd century. there are some earlier fragments of pages about 3 inches square dating from 150 ad with a few legible words on it. the oldest know fragment is this:

there are hundreds of other christian writings that date as early that were left out of the bible. http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/
the bible we have today was put together by a vote of a group of men in about 397 ad. even today there is debate about which books belong in the bible. catholics for instance have a different bible than evangelicals. http://freethought.mbdojo.com/canon.html
modern scholars are refining what we know about the bible and are removing many of the disputed verses that were added later trying to keep a truer picture of the original. a good example is that we now know that the last 10 verses of mark were forged later. here is a comparison of old bible scripture and the more modern versions of the bible being published today. as you can see a small word change makes a big difference: http://watch.pair.com/scriptures.html
if you are going to base your idea of truth on an old book don't you think it would be wise to know the true history of that book?

Pretending that you so accurately and intimately know the personal life of the Emperor and his wife of 1.6 thousand years ago to the point where you can call that claim history is absolutely ridiculous.

Address to the Greeks (165/175 A.D.):
"We are not playing the fool, you Greeks, nor do we talk nonsense, when we report that God was born in the form of a man"
St. Irenaeus
From his 5 book-set 'Against Heresies': 'Detection and overthrow of the gnosis falsely so-called' (180/199 A.D.):
"and the raising up again of all flesh of all humanity, in order that to Jesus Christ our Lord and God and Saviour and King;"
