traders who are deeply religious

Quote from trader28:

What is there to argue? anyone who thinks relativity is a law is obviously prepared to twist science to their own ends... relativity is not a law, there are still many things it does not explain.. but lets not let that little inconvenience stop you from pushing your little pagan myth based religion
Well, I agree with you about one thing: I can't argue against your ignorance of science.

Hie thyself to a public library -- they're nearly everywhere -- to find out whether the theory of relativity has become a law.

You may also want to look up the definition of a law in scientific methodology.

And, since you based my belief in christianity on my accuracy in reporting, I'll use your own measuring stick to say that you have affirmed my beliefs.

Thanks.

Quote from trader28:

Historians have ripped the bible version Jesus to shreds and it is pointless trying to tell the "believers" the truth... their life is too enmeshed with what they have been told... they dont have the inner strength to face life without their religious crutch
I notice that people who can't think for themselves are quick to point out that others have done so-and-so to refute what they themselves can't accept.

Come on, you can at least post some real arguments, eh?

Let's stop with the, "Everybody knows" arguments because everbody doesn't.

Jesus wasn't even widely considered the son of god by most of the early christian sects until a mad roman emperor (Constantine) lined up the bishops and threatened decapitation unless they deified Jesus... and why? well apart from bringing all the citizens under one umbrella which makes them easier to control... his nagging bitch wife happened to subscribe to the minority christian view that Jesus was god... cleverly promoted by Paul (by grafting a pagan myth onto the historical Jesus) who never even met Jesus, despite the brother of Jesus and head of the Jerusalem church (James) calling him the father of all lies for deifying him... theres your christian religion in a nutshell... and the reason why Pope Leo X was quoted as saying "this myth of Jesus has served us well"

Then why were contemporaneous people willing to die for him? Jesus had told them that he was going to prove he was God by rising from the dead after 3 days. Were people then incredibly more stupid than today (you can probably see why I think that unlikely) to the point that they would give their lives for a man they knew was a charlatan? (By the way, Paul's IQ is estimated by psychologists to be at least 160, similar to mine.)

You have nothing to offer so far but speculation. And, your speculation is harder to believe than the original historical documents.

I'm normally a easy going person. But Trader, please stop this tried crap.

Once more,

"St. Ignatius of Antioch
Letter to the Ephesians (110 A.D.):
"For our God, Jesus Christ, was conceived by Mary in accord with God's plan"
Letter to the Romans (110 A.D.):
"to the church beloved and enlightened after the love of Jesus Christ, our God, by the will of Him that has willed everything which is;"

Tatian the Syrian
Address to the Greeks (165/175 A.D.):
"We are not playing the fool, you Greeks, nor do we talk nonsense, when we report that God was born in the form of a man"

St. Irenaeus
From his 5 book-set 'Against Heresies': 'Detection and overthrow of the gnosis falsely so-called' (180/199 A.D.):
"and the raising up again of all flesh of all humanity, in order that to Jesus Christ our Lord and God and Saviour and King;"

Stop the rediculous speculation about some dead broad from a time when books where written on animal skins and roads were high technology.

Why do terrorists fly planes into buildings thinking they will end up in paradise with a 1000 virgins?

Because the are deluded too

Because they have a belief (that they can't know to be true until they die).

If you had simple understanding, you would know the contemporaneous martyrs weren't believers, they were knowers. They didn't have to wait until they died to know that Jesus either rose from the dead or he didn't.

I'm sorry you can't see the difference, but for anyone else reading, I'm sure you can see the difference is severe.

Thats because there is no difference, both groups are sad fundamentalists being manipulated by men in power using a myth as leverage and counting on the ignorance of those who dont have the mental fortitude to think for themselves... GROW UP
