Traders...how did you do in 2020? I crushed it after two blown out accounts!

Glad to hear it...keep it up.

HA...well received. I don't think I will delete this as I am only good for a few posts every 20 years lol. But, I am not superstitious about this or my trading...I could certainly lose or the markets change on me. However, I am very confident at present that I have "locked in" on something really good. I will humbly move forward after years of blood, sweat, and tears. Best to you...

Wish you the best of 2021 too. Just keep your focus always.

Congratulations on your success. I suggest you measure your returns as a percentage of your investment, because $40K doesn't mean anything. If your returns are better than that of a managed fund less fees, you're doing really well!

I couldn't beat my managed fund which returned a stunning 97.66% but came around 80%, which is pretty good as a first year trader, although I've been reminded how unique this year has been in the stock market.

In this year it was good to trade in forex in the early parts of it. As the year progressed and then the epindemic hit and it was very clear that there was no room for forex trading for smart people. Even with what was going on some people were invited too forex trading by ads and they decided to join whnethere were higher chances of them losing than winning and most of them pretty much did not own that. If you blew up your accounts this year then you probably fell for that and now you know why. The market was not in a good position and therefore there should haev not bene any beginners because predictions were off the charts. Easier to lose than ever than it is to win.

Congratulations!
I have much the same story!
I opened this account in 2011 with $1000.
I mostly trade equity options, and mostly spreads.
2020-309 fills, $1395 in commission

I matched S&P gains YTD, so horrible. Could've just bought the index and pay cap. gains instead of ordinary income gains. Not to mention I was mostly NQ pre-COVID so should've just left everything alone and trusted in the party of "fiscal responsibility" to come to the rescue.
Thinking about docu888?

I just wanted to get a read on 2020 trading results. I am a longtime lurker here, and fallen into and out of love with trading over two decades. I blew out two sizeable accounts, one in the Asian Contagion days of 1998 (borrowed money!!). And, another $20K account with the horrible timing of 2008. I put trading and any hopes of ever making it away for over a decade, promising my wife that I would never do it again.

But, a few years ago I got the itch again and really began to pursue it with a new passion. I have developed and honed a methodology in options and futures options that showed promise. I paper traded live and documented and journaled everything for over a year. And, finally put live money in when I sold a piece of real estate earlier this year. Well, after over 20 years of struggle, frustration, and even agony over lost money, I have FINALLY turned the corner. It has been a long and lonely journey, and I probably should have given up, but I never did. I am posting this to say, it is possible! You can do it, too! $40,000 in profits since September. I am going all the way with this and have a newfound outlook on life and what I hope to give to my family. Happy New Year!

And, thanks to the many fantastic threads and traders on ET over the years that have called out to me over the pages of this site. It helped me eventually get there...

I tweeted all my trades the day prior to making the trades. From June, 2020 till December 31, 2020, my profit was 107%. That's 214% annualized.

Excellent job...

A piece of advice is that don't get cocky while you're doing extremely well in trading because it might ruin your trading discipline which is your confidence in trading.

btw make sure you save some money aside to pay taxes for your 2020 gains!!!

Excellent return on capital...keep it going. Trading is a lonely profession. This is a good place to brag/share about positive outcomes we have going on at the end of a crazy year.
