Traders' Expo this weekend in NYC - anyone?

Clowns selling real time snapshot mobile data for 175/month. Other similar crap from losers who thank it's 1999. Bunch of homeless looking bozos swuarming around fx deaslers

Da worst expo ever. Forex and rich quick snakes prevale. What a waste. Zoo not waste time
Seminars empty.

Wait till I turn up again. I can pack in the crowd sushi, and I'll even show ya my ass if you want.

why and when did the expo become dominated by forex? is it because the leverage of forex attracts the biggest dreamers(suckers)?

You'd figure there would be some sleazy stock vendors too, but where have they all disappeared to?

Quote from DataCruncher:

do speakers pay to get speaking slots? or are they paid? or is it done for free to get publicity?

all of the above. It really just depends on who you are, what kind of crowd you can bring in, vs what type of crowd will the expo bring you etc etc.

Ive never paid to speak at the show, nor have I ever had a booth..however Ive spoken on behalf of sponsors who definatly did pay. I've never been paid to speak there per say, except for just airline ticket, hotel room paid for etc..but it's very well worth going as you tend to get a lot of business if you give a good speach and don't pitch shit.

Snake Oil King Pristine was selling 10k lifetime subs to his genius and the room was filled.

I think 400 people signed up and paid in gold coin.

jk about that last part.

Show pretty much sucked as usual. Could be we're just jaded. Lots of flash, bells , whistles, nothing really new or even interesting.

I think I may swing through the expo briefly. what are the best exhibits to check out? I know its mostly bullshit and I'm not going to buy anything but in particular I want to see if there are any interesting/new technology that exhibitors are showing.

You need to check out the amazing new portable quote machine from www.carryquote.com . they charge at tops $175.00/month and its snapshot data. SNAP SHOT DATA They are seriously behind the times, probably will fold within 5 months. Must think its 1997 or something. thats about as high tech as this years expo got, what a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.

Ask the guy what makes them different than the better portable quote companies that couldnt make it, and he will get mad. Pretty funny!

hahaha. so what is the crowd like at the trading expo? is there anybody there worth networking with? or just degenerate gamblers?

Quote from Kurzwhite:

I am checking out Elder on Sunday 8am and Altucher on Monday, also would like to see some live action trading on Monday, just for fun.
You took Elder's paid course?

Would you mind telling us how you liked it?

I attended the live trading* (which wasn't really so much, but still entertaining and informative); and several seminars on creating and following a good trading plan.

A guy who spoke in the evening and focused entirely on that aspect of trading was named Stuart McPhee. One of htis books is Trading in a Nutshell and to be quite honest, he was pretty good. Ex-military, very humble, heavy on the discipline (of course).

I enjoyed Merlin Rothfield* and Tom Willard's* presentations as well.

* They represent trading vendors, so I won't post their companies here, but just drop me a PM if you want their info.

Regards

There's always something for everyone ... even if it's just the forex babes who you know don't know anything about trading but are just rediculously good looking eye candy. :p :D
