As an example, I signed up for Avid's free trial of their signal service. They required a credit card but you were supposed to be able to cancel within a certain number of days. Well, I didn't find the service of value to me so I canceled. But they charged my credit card anyway, wouldn't reply to my emails to cancel and didn't issue a credit to my card. So I just disputed the charge. They even tried to charge me again the following month so I disputed that one too.
I guess they got tired of paying the chargeback fees to their merchant account provider because they finally stopped the charges. Still, I never did receive any reply to my emails and they don't list a phone number. Oh well, it didn't cost me even though they obviously never intended to honor their free trial offer.
In your case, since the seller didn't deliver the product that you paid for, you would have a ligitimate claim to dispute the charge.
