Trader w/ a felony conviction

Any traders on here who have a felony conviction within the last 10 years? If so please offer some advice on how to get a firm to file for eligibility proceedings on my behalf. Tell me how you were able to overcome this obstacle. Any companies that you know are understanding and would be willing to do so? I have hit a wall witht his matter and need help. Please find it in your heart to lend a hand. I am a finance major in college and feel as if I am wasting my time now given my mistake. Like everyone else on this site I love the markets and want nothing more than my chance to be involved.

Only person I know of who was able to enter the professional realm with a felony (I know it for a fact, I helped her through the bad times) was an attractive female, and I think she was given a "bye" because the circumstances were not really in her control anway.

Mine was more than ten years ago. When I was 16 my cousin was raped and the kid who did it's dad was the local DA so he got away with it. About 3 weeks after it happened another of my cousin's and I ran into him at a party and beat him up, he was in the hospital for 3 weeks. Of course his dad was not happy with us and wanted to throw the book our way. I got lucky in that I was relatively popular in school (class president) and several teachers liked me and came to court and said what a great guy I was and how they could not imagine me ever doing something like this again, so in my case I did not get sent away or go to jail, but I did end up with the felony assult (but not battery which I'm not complaining about, but I've never understood). Once I got out of HS and went to open my trading accounts it was not a problem, but it did become an issue when I started to take on private clients and manage money. I had to spend a good amount of money to get the felony expunged from my record and prove that I've been a good and peaceful person in the years after the assault (it's the only time I have ever had any invovlment with the police in my life). Anyway, got it expunged and got on with things. If it was a relatively minor felony, or if its one such as mine that the judge feels like "id have done the same damn thing" then you can probably get it taken off your record and move on with your life. btw, as far as I know until you get it expunged no firm or bank will even consider hiring you or working with you.
 
you mean that even if I was to have to wait the statutory period of ten years to trade professionaly I would still not get hired unless I have it expunged? Please clarify and thanks for taking the time to share.
